GSMT Try-It's, Badges & Interest Project Patch Programs

Girl Scouts of Michigan Trails has numerous Try-It's, Badges and Interest Project Patch programs available. These Try-It's, Badges and Interest Project Patches were created to provide opportunities that may not exist in your GSUSA badge books. Try-It's, Badges and Interest Project Patches in this category were created based on specific GSUSA guidelines. The requirements and possible resource materials for these programs are available in the Resource Room at the Service Center. Many of these programs are also available to download in PDF format below. Once you have earned these Try-it's, Badges and Interest Project Patches they may to be worn on the front of the girl's sash or vest. These can be purchased through the council shop.

Etiquette and You - C/S Interest Project Patch*
From the 1920's to today, etiquette has undergone very few changes. Come learn how things may or may not have changed.

In the Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness - C/S Interest Project Patch
Juliette Low, founder and role model for Girl Scouting in the US, died at age 66 from breast cancer. This Interest Project Patch explores and creates an understanding why this is so important to all women of all ages.

Girl Scouts of Michigan Trails has numerous patch programs available. The requirements and possible resource materials for these programs are available in the Resource Room at the Service Center. Many of these programs are also available to download in PDF format below. Once you have earned these patches they are to be worn on the back of the girl's sash or vest. The patches can be purchased through the council shop.

Art Escapade* - B, J, C
Learn about the art culture of Grand Rapids, Michigan by visiting various locations and museums.

Archery Badge* Be A Great Guy* - D, B, J, C & S
This patch program is designed to encourage positive male interaction in GSMT Council troops/groups and to help men spend quality time with the Girl Scouts in their lives.

Trails & Maps* - B
There are trails everywhere. How can you know where they lead? This Try-It will help you explore some trailsand learn about the maps that guide us in unfamiliar areas.

Fine Feathered Friends* - B
This patch is designed to be completed at Camp Anna Behrens. This patch program was designed by Rebecca Franks and Kathy Fleming for their 2003 Gold Award.

Birds of a Feather* - J
This patch is designed to be completed at Camp Anna Behrens. This patch program was designed by Rebecca Franks and Kathy Fleming for their 2003 Gold Award.

For the Birds* - C & S
This patch is designed to be completed at Camp Anna Behrens. This patch program was designed by Rebecca Franks and Kathy Fleming for their 2003 Gold Award.

Ice Hockey Badge* - J
This patch program was designed by Kayla Vance, Samantha Mack, Kerstin Froman, Heather O’Donnell, and Emily Savail.

Cultural Customs: - B, J, C & S
Breakfast,
* Hair,* Home* and Greetings* is what this program covers. Learn about the first meal of the day, cornrows to flat tops, is it a bow or high five and the different shapes and sizes of our homes. Call Council Shop for patch and shipping and handling costs.

A Field Trip Through Time* - B, J, C & S
Explore the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. This program has resource packets for each decade. Earn the Patch and rocker for each decade. Call Council Shop for patch and shipping and handling costs.

Frederik Meijer Gardens* - B, J, C & S
Learn about Frederik Meijer Gardens through examination of plants and sculptures, participation in projects and group discussions.

Girls & Giving: Philanthropy in Girl Scouting * - D, B, J, C & S
This program is designed to teach girls about giving. This program includes a patch and rockers.

Go Gardening* - D, B, J, C & S
Girls will explore the differences in seasons and the crops or flowers that can be grown. Call Council Shop for patch and shipping and handling costs.

Honor Troop* - D, B, J, C & S
This patch program was established to recognize troops willing to put forth the time and energy to make the Girl Scout program a more meaningful and varied experience.

Hug me Teddy Bear* - D, B, J, C & S
This patch program includes a pattern & instructions to sew Teddy Bears. This is a great service project!

Michigan Mosaic* - D, B, J, C & S
A diversity and pluralism patch collaboration between the program departments of the Michigan Girl Scout Council alliance.

Rails To Trails* - D, B, J, C & S
This patch program is a summer bike program from June 1 - September 1. All you have to do is ride, whether it's on a trail near your home, or in front of your house with friends. In addition you can earn rockers for all those miles you ride.

Unity - Celebrating People - B, J, C & S
This patch program is a diversity patch program that focuses on Native American, African, Asian and Latin American Cultures. Thorough these programs you will explore language, demographics, religion, rituals, food or music for these cultures.

Water Drop* - B, J, C & S
This patch program is a partnership between the Environmental Protection Agency and the Girl Scouts. The project is to encourage girls to make a difference in their communities by becoming watershed and wetlands stewards.

Zink the Zebra - D, B, J, C & S (patch kit available at Service Center only)
This program is a ready-to-implement, self-contained activity plan for you and your troop. Zink the Zebra helps girls develop the valuable skills of Understanding, Respect, Compassion and Acceptance of human differences.
