Face It
Face It is a team of Kent and Ottawa County 10th-12th grade girls and adult advisors committed to
‘facing it’ with Girl Scouts. Face It educates girls, Daisy-Cadette, through interactive
workshops covering various social issues. Workshop topics range from discussing healthy friendships
to eating disorders to celebrating our differences.
Face It strives to equip girls with the knowledge and confidence to combat social pressures,
making their minds their greatest allies. Face It teens serve for one year, attend summer training,
attend monthly meetings, write workshops, present 12 workshops annually, build leadership and
presentation skills all while having fun and changing lives.
Interested in Becoming a Face It Teen Leader?
Face It Teen Leaders are responsible for participating in training, attending monthly team meetings, developing an age appropriate workshop, and presenting 12 one-hour workshops throughout the year. Face It Teen Leaders will be trained on a variety of issues affecting our youth in today's society, including topics such as, racism, illiteracy, suicide, drugs/alcohol, and self-esteem. Once the Face It Team gains knowledge in these areas, they develop and implement workshops, presenting them to younger Girl Scouts and in girls in greater Kent and Ottawa counties. Our goal is to empower the youth of tomorrow with their mind as their greatest ally. Interested teens and college-age women should email the Program Director-South or call 616-784-3341.
