Ecoventures
Since 1994, Ecoventures has been an exciting program that provides girls with a hands on
learning experience in science, math, sociology, psychology, nature, outdoor skills and more.
The Ecoventures program was featured as the focus the 1999 Wider Opportunity, hosted by
Girl Scouts of Michigan Trails. It has since become a nationally recognized program, taught
in Pennsylvania, Alaska, Arkansas, Illinois, Georgia, and Michigan.
Each session is 90 minutes of activities, lessons and discovery. Cadette and Senior Girl
Scouts that have trained to be Ecoventure Guides teach the sessions. The girls also help
to develop the sessions they present.
New Lessons:
More Messy Science: Make a mess and learn about chemistry at the same time through hands on activities. All new activities are being presented from last year.
Survivor Skills: Lean some basic outdoor skills to help you survive in the out-of-doors such as fire building, knot typing, orienteering, and more.
Creative Cultures: Girls learn to appreciate the many cultures of the world by participating in children’s games and music from around the world.
Volcanoes, Earthquakes, and Tsunamis: Have you ever wondered why volcanoes blow their tops off or why the ground sometimes isn’t as solid as it seems? We will explore the basics of earth science as they relate to natural phenomena by building a volcano and creating a tsunami and earthquake.
