How Do I Join?

Michigan Trails offers various options for girls interested in joining Girl Scouts. Girls can join as an individual or participate in a troop.

Individual Girl Scout (Juliettes)
Girls and teenage girls who are interested in Girl Scout programs and events but don't wish to be in a troop can sign up as an individual Girl Scout. These Girl Scouts can participate in events and programs as they choose. They can also work individually on badges and awards.

Troop Girl Scout
The traditional way of participating in Girl Scouts has been through troops. When girls register for Girl Scouts, they are assigned to troops by age level and school. These troops are led by troop leaders. Troops coordinate many of their own activities but may also participate in council-wide programs. Troops meet regularly depending on the desires of the troop. Girls in troops can also participate in Girl Scout programs and events in addition to their troops.

Zip Scouts
Are you dashing from one activity to another? Are you having trouble finding the time and energy to put into a full-time Girl Scout troop experience?  If you answered YES to any of the questions, the Girl Scouts of Michigan Trails ZIP SCOUT program could be the solution you’re looking for.  If you want more than just an event now and then, but you don’t have time for a troop then join ZIP SCOUTS.

When you join Zip Scouts, you will have the opportunity to receive your Zip Pack for the year. We will mail you a Zip Pack filled with different books that you can read and work on throughout the year. You can still earn badges or charms if you want to, and you can order any of our cool merchandise—all through the mail!

When you sign up, you will have the opportunity to pick the pack you want to work on that year.  Or, if you want to work on your Gold or Silver Award choose the track that includes your "Going for the Gold" or "Striving for the Silver" book. You choose your track and you choose whether or not you want to order awards.

Adults can make a difference in the lives of girls by volunteering. Girl Scouts of Michigan Trails seeks adults willing to offer their time and talents to make a difference. Whether it's leading or assisting a troop, mentoring, organizing an event, being an advisor to teens, or helping with a one-time event, you can make a difference. Let us know what special interests and talents you have and what you'd like to help with.

Adults pay a $10 annual registration fee and training is provided for all volunteers for your safety and the safety of the girls. Further information is located in Training and Recognitions section.
